Huntley Residences, a multifamily condominium building designed by Apel Design in West Hollywood

Multifamily

Huntley Residences

West Hollywood

Project perspective

A West Hollywood condominium building that keeps a multifamily program at the scale of the residential street around it.

The design story

Huntley Residences is a multifamily condominium building in West Hollywood, part of the studio’s housing work in a city where apartment buildings and houses share the same streets.

The questions it answers are the ones every small multifamily building faces: how each home keeps its privacy and daylight, how residents arrive from the street, and how a building of several homes sits comfortably among its neighbors.

What this project shows

Lessons carried into the next commission.

Home remains the starting point

Each residence should feel like a home in its own right: private, full of daylight, and easy to live in.

The shared parts stay simple

Entry, circulation, services and maintenance need a clear structure, so the common parts of the building are easy to use and to look after.

Neighborhood scale matters

The building should create a considerate relationship to arrival, street, and surrounding homes.

Bring us the ambition, the difficult site, or the project that needs to become clear.
