Project perspective
Malibu Rose is a Malibu residence by Apel Design, where a single saturated colour is used as a structural gesture rather than a finish.
The design story
Malibu Rose uses colour the way other houses use material. A deep red plane runs through the building and out into the landscape, tying the entry, the terrace and the pool edge into one continuous move.
Against that, the rest of the palette is restrained: timber, plaster and glass, lit so the red reads strongest at dusk when the house is most used.
